Back in May 2011, the NYT reported that Dozens of Colombian mercenaries, led by controversial Blackwater founder Erik Prince, have been transferred to the United Arab Emirates to assist the oil-rich state's security forces. However, the UAE government now is directly hiring the Colombian soldiers instead of going through Blackwater (i.e., no longer mercenaries but soldiers).
