Michael Totten met with Haim Bittan, the chief rabbi of Tunis, and this was not an easy interview. It's clear the rabbi, understandably, didn't voice his real concerns as he feared his words may affect the safety of the 1,500 jews living in Tunisia. Most Christian men of religion in Egypt are as careful in their interviews especially after the rise of the Islamists.
