What's The Matter With The Delta?

There are various explanations to Shafik's rise and they range from his anti-revolution stance, behind the scene support by the army, ex-NDP funding, fragmentation of the youth and moderates votes between Abol Fotouh and Hamdeen, crashing of Moussa after the debate, Salafists voting for Mursi instead of Abol Fotouh to being heavily supported by Copts.

I'm fine with all that but more than 2 million votes of his 3.5 million total votes came from four Delta governorates: Sharkiya, Dakahiya, Gharbiya and Monofiya. These are the key places where he had stunning performance and created a solid lead over Sabbahi and Abol Fotouh. In other words, it is because those four governorates that Shafik is currently in round two.

Last night I provided an explanation of Monofiya numbers as being Mubarak and Sadat's birthplace with a strong NDP presence but I can't be sure or explain the other (could it be that the four governorates have Central Security "amn markazy" camps?). Also, women voted for Shafik more than men. Is it because some women felt the Muslim Brotherhood's candidate is a threat to their rights? (but I think this would be more of a concern to urban women). I could be overanalyzing the gender dimension but we need to analyze the numbers and conduct post elections analysis. I'm tired.
