"I have too much garbage in my heart"

Every year in China, around a thousand condemned prisoners are executed (China is leading the kill count among nations that use capital punishment). Journalist Ding Yu's idea of talking to condemned prisoners shortly before their execution turned out to be a brilliant one - in Henan province, four million people tune in to her weekly TV show “Interviews Before Execution”. Her show has now featured 225 such interviews, and we get to watch some of them in this preview of the BBC documentary “Dead Man Talking”.

In this 3 minute preview of the documentary, Ding Yu is showing us her lighter and human side when she tells a prisoner about to be executed "You are dangerous to the society, you're shit" but then it's not really about the killed but her makeup and how heavy her heart is "I have too much garbage in my heart".

I'm curious did she ever interview political prisoners, not clear cut killers, whose only crime was to ask for democracy?
